Inside Advanced Energy's Motor Test Lab

New Lab Capability
Original equipment manufacturer (OEMs) and motor designers serving the on-road and off-road transportation market segment have prompted the need for extended duration DC power resources in our lab. To supplement our large battery bank and traditional DC power supplies we designed and commissioned a DC generator capable of providing up to 500VDC at 500Amps continuous power. Through the use of the DC generator and our battery bank, a very stiff high capacity and controllable DC power source is available for characterization and endurance testing.

Advanced Energy’s PEV Program
Proven Efficiency Verification (PEV) is a motor repair quality assurance program facilitated by Advanced Energy. With the growing importance of greening our work places and adopting energy conservation measures wherever possible, the PEV Program is one way to gain control of motor efficiency and lower energy costs. The program offers proof that a repair facility has the capability to maintain motor efficiency during the rewinding process. For the user, an efficient motor conserves on energy costs and normally results in cooler motor operating temperatures increasing motor reliability. For the motor service center, the PEV Program results in a larger market share and a satisfied customer base.

Advanced Energy recently exhibited PEV at the 2008 Electrical Apparatus Service Association, Inc. (EASA) International Convention in Dallas, T.X. As a result we have been invited to participate in the EASA Region Seven Annual Conference September 4-8, 2008 in Salt Lake City, U.T.

For more information regarding PEV including a list of repair facilities that are currently PEV Certified visit us online or contact Kitt Butler at 919 857-9017 or kbutler@advancedenergy.org.
