“LEAFing the Pump Behind” — ADVANED ENERGY LAUNCHES NEW BLOG DISCUSSING 12 WEEKS WITH THE NISSAN LEAF Raleigh, N.C. (September 12, 2011) Advanced Energy, a nonprofit with expertise in understanding, planning for and implementing electric transportation, is excited to be one of the first all-electric Nissan Leaf vehicle owners in North Carolina and is launching a 12-week blog to educate the public on the experience. Follow along with one of the Technical Project Managers, Staci Haggis, as she shares her experiences with learning about and driving an all electric car. Advanced Energy's Electric Transportation Team has a successful history starting in the late 1980s with the conversion of a Pontiac Fiero and Chevrolet Van to battery operated vehicles, but decided to grow this area of the company when it launched its Plug-In Hybrid Electric School Bus Project in 2001. Its electric transportation initiatives have grown and with the blog, the company hopes to share with others the possibilities of electric transportation at the individual level. “I'm excited to have this opportunity to drive the Leaf for Advanced Energy and to learn first-hand what driving an electric vehicle is all about,” said Haggis. “Working at Advanced Energy, I spend my days evaluating new electric vehicle supply equipment and researching best practices and lessons learned about all aspects of electric vehicles. Now I want to know what it's like to actually drive one – from charging it at home to experiencing what it's like to look for charging stations versus gas pumps.” Follow Staci throughout her 12 weeks with the Leaf here or via Twitter @AELeaf.
