Advanced Energy’s President Leads the Way to Energy Efficiency
Raleigh, N.C. (November 12, 2008)—Advanced Energy President and Executive Director Dr. Robert K. Koger, P.E., was recently acknowledged for multiple achievements within the energy field including Green Nonprofit Leader of the Year, election to the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) and 20 years of service leading Advanced Energy. "Bob has devoted his life to this industry, and we are all better for it," said Jeff Corbett, senior vice president of energy delivery for Progress Energy Carolinas. "We're facing new energy realities as we work together toward a balanced, secure energy future. Bob's leadership has been essential to that effort." The Triangle Business Journal recently named Koger the Green Nonprofit Leader of the Year as a part of the 2008 GREEN Awards Program created to recognize the many businesses, government entities and nonprofit organizations making environmentally friendly practices a top priority. Koger was also recognized for his dedication to the energy industry through his nomination and election to the NAESB by colleagues in the regulatory and utility industries. As a board member, Koger will provide input and work with government agencies to create the standards that govern the energy industry. The partnership between industry leaders and government agencies allows for a healthy and effective mechanism for information sharing, which improves the energy marketplace according to the board’s Web site. Koger was recently honored for 20 years of service at Advanced Energy, a nonprofit he helped form. Recently named 2008 Business of the Year for Energy Efficiency by the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association (NCSEA), Advanced Energy has been helping organizations use energy more efficiently for nearly three decades. The organization’s SystemVision program, which works to promote energy efficiency in the subsidized housing market, was also recently recognized with a Special Partner Award from the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA). Prior to joining Advanced Energy as president and executive director in 1988, Koger served on the North Carolina Utilities Commission for 11 years, including eight years as chairman. Koger’s broad energy expertise includes participation on several committees including the Executive Committee of the National Association of Regulatory Commissioners (NARUC), president of the Southeastern Association of Regulatory Commissioners (SEARUC) and a 10-year membership on the Advisory Council of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). He has also helped Advanced Energy expand and invest in other organizations such as Microcell Corp. and N.C. Greenpower. About Advanced Energy | |||
